You said gearbox. Myself, I don't really consider an AODE a gear box but an automatic transmission.Manual transmissions and differentials are gearboxes.
I hope you used MERCON V fluid when you filled it up.Incorrect fluid can cause a converter shudder.

Yes, I've come across this problem quite often: people posting vague descriptions of vehicles & their symptoms asking pointless questions on discussion forums.

f150 gearbox
Ford's fix for transmission shudder. That is what they told us to use and it worked most of the time.

I have all the manners I need, and I've read a lot more than you have. Nothing that I posted was a criticism - it was a statement of facts, and NOT exclusively facts about YOU. It's a discussion forum - not a telepathy forum. We can only discuss things that are clearly stated, and you still haven't clearly stated anything. You don't even seem capable of using punctuation, so that we can tell what's a statement, and what's a question. The only thing you've posted that looks sort of like a question is "has anyone come across this problem". But you didn't describe any problem clearly enough to identify, so I took my best guess & gave you an accurate answer.

The entire description you gave of your problem is "I have a judder/ vibration at around 40 mph". Does it only happen AT that speed, or does it just begin to be noticeable AROUND that speed, or is that the speed where it's worst? Is it a vibration that only makes concentric rings in your coffee? Or is it strong enough to slosh the coffee out of the cup? Have you checked the lug nuts? U-joints? Are the tires balanced? What's their maximum road force? Was the truck wrecked ever? Do you have a big flag trailing off a pole in the bed? When did this problem start? Suddenly or progressively? ...?

Are you starting to understand how MUCH information you've left out? Because those questions still barely scratch the surface of what we need to know to diagnose it over the interwebz.

The symptoms the Op stated given the type of transmission he also stated was very clear to me. Ford had a lot of problems with that trans back in the day. The most common problem was shudder or some called it "like running over a rumble strip closing on an intersection or on/off ramp. I was at the time working at a Ford dealer when this all began so it's not a matter of the op not stating clearly what was going on so much as a fact that you obviously knew nothing about a very wide spread problem with AODE transmissions of that era. Pretty sure there's a TSB about it if you decide to educate yourself on it.

You owe the op an apology at the very least.
