P/S pump mounting bolts
Good day, you F150 ownersI made this a separate subject as it may apply to others who aren't replacing their engine. When I pulled the power steering pump off the head I noted it was secured to the head with 3 bolts. But it had 4 mounting holes and the head had four tapped holes. They used the two holes towards the front of the engine and one in back. The empty hole looked like it had never had a bolt in it. What do you think: factory mistake or they decided 3 was sufficient? (I bought the truck used so maybe the p/s pump was replaced early on?)
Then I get the re-manufactured engine and the driver side head only has 3 tapped holes! Two towards the back of the engine and one in front. And where the front inboard hole should be the head casting is different such that it barely supports the pump foot. What do you think: get a new p/s pump and see if fits the head better? Or figure 3 out of 4 is all you need?
