Default Overheating

Hello everyone, I have a 98 f150 with a 4.6l and I've been having an issue with it recently. So one day I start driving and all of a sudden out of nowhere, it starts overheating badly, so I stop and it instantly went back to normal temp. When I tried going again it tried heating up again so I went slow and after a while it started to act normal. So I got a new thermostat and did a coolant flush. After about a week or so, it did it again, so I checked the coolant and there wasn't much so I filled it with more water. Anybody know what the issue might be?

Hate to say it, but probably a head gasket.
