Oil Pump causing Engine Shutdown?
Truck: 92 F150 4.9l 265K Miles.
A day ago i noticed my oil pressure reading lower than usual, it usually reads right in between Low and High. Since the truck leaks a little bit of oil i just topped ( about 1/2 a quart) it off, thinking that would solve the problem. However it continued downward and while running it one day the engine shut down twice on me, first on the highway then on the road between 50-70 mph each time. It could of been my gas tanks playing with me, The Front sending unit is broken and the rear transfers fuel to the front. However i switched between the two of them while driving and it did not feel like the front tank was low on fuel (that was the take i was on when it shut off twice). Shouldnt i feel some stuttering or fuel starvation before the engine quits? Or is the lack of oil pressure from a possible broken oil pump causing the engine to quit/shut off? Thanks.
