Oil filter problem and solution
Hey Guys first post here. Lots of good info. So I decided to change my oil on my f150 today instead of taking it to a shop which I usually do. So I bought oil and read up on not using a fram filter. So I went to ford and ordered motorcraft oil filter and was set. Drained the oil and removed the aftermarket oil filter that was on the truck. Lucky I looked at it before I ordered mine as there was two options a fat stubby one and a skinny longer one. When I tried to put the filter on it would not go? I'm like did they give me the wrong one. I call ford back up and the parts person tells me that they may have changed the cap to fit the aftermarket one that was on there. I couldn't understand. How much to replace the cap back? $45 dollars I'm like no thanks ill return it and find one that will fit. Went to my parts source store and basically the filter that fits my truck now is a 2011-2014 mustang. I ended up using a k&n filter and found out that the ford part is now motorcraft fl500s. So on my next change Ill switch back. ok well hope this might help someone and learned something today.
