The odometer on my 01 f150 keeps fading in and out anyone have any ideas on why it's doing this?

 

Does go out completely and then come back on or does it fade like a resistance is being applied to it? I had a problem where mine on my 04 Heritage would go out completely at random and found this page to repair the problem. after a few thousand miles of that problem, I was ready to buy a new cluster but this repair fixed it. And the best part is that it only takes an hour and a half from start to finish.
