Default odd Fault

Go to jump in truck on Monday AM, heading to work on the road for a week. No go. Turns over, no fire, no ignition, can't smell fuel, it sounds like it want to go. First weird thing: as I turn it over, and release the key, it keeps turning over. Check codes, nothing. Try few times, same result. Frig this, call my buddy, get to work, go on the road.

Call wife, tell her truck is boned, will fix when I get back. She goes out Monday after work, truck turns right over, all is good. I call BS, tell her to try it in the Morning when it is damp and cold. Tuesday AM, fires right up. What the frig...

Now here is our train of thought, she of course has my spare keys. They seem to work. Is it possible that my chip has lost it ID/code etc, and what are the symptoms of this happening. I was leaning toward either fuel pump, solinoid etc.

2008, 5.4L

Any idea??????

FPDM...could be on it’s way out...check the condition of it...it’s mounted to the frame rail above the spare tire and corrodes to the frame. and the crank after release of the key is normal.

Ruled that out, just replaced the FPDM in June 14. Chances of it going within 2 months are rare. Have not heard from the Wife yet. I think she has lost interested in the broken truck. LOL

Problem came back this morning, It was below 0 C temp. Has been working fine since. In the mean time, I have since changed the fuel filter. Also found mouse nest. Hoping it is not a chewed wire, with no codes it is tough to know where to start, Leaning toward pump, or ICM or reley, Any input would rock.

PS. It frigging started after work. So there is a gremlin in there somewhere.

Help

Default Check your wiring

If you had a mouse nest I would definitely give the wiring a good going over. I had Mice chew through wires on several cars. You spend enough time hunting or camping mice eventually get in there.
