Post nothing happens

HI Everyone..
i have a 1995 F150 6 cyl...everything stock there is about 140,000 miles
... here is my problem
i turn the key nothing happens...the driving lites do come on when i turn the key...and i continue to turn the key to the start position nothing happens
....battery is new... i will leave it for awhile without doing anything...then it starts fine...
it is a hit and miss as to weather it will start...sometimes it does this when its cold...other times when it hot...
now for the last 3 days...it has sat in front of my home because when i turn the key nothing happens...
its very frusterating not knowing what is causing this to fix it...
could it be the solenoid??
anyone have any ideas??

Maybe make sure the battery posts and cable ends are clean first. After that, follow the cables to the other end and make sure they both have good connections. Track96

Sounds like a starter to me. Do you hear a slight clunk from under the car when you turn the key?

nope there is nothing...it is like the battery is dead.... but it is a new battery
when i turn the key the driving lites come on and then i continue to turn the key to start position and nothing happens...no click ...no clunk...no nothing
it is frustrating..when you dont know what is causing this
i will report back if i find out what it is so that others can benefit as well
thanks to all for all your inputs on this

So --- Have you done the battery posts and ground connections as mentioned above? Do you have a voltmeter and know how to use it? Tracka96
