New Clutch Problems
I just replaced the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate, pilot bearing, and slave cylinder on my 1998 F150 4.6 4x4. Put everything back together last night and filled T-case and Tranny. Went to test drive and all seemed ok, pulled out of the garage and drove up the street about a block as i turned around and got into 2nd gear the tranny seemed to disengage the gear and lost its abilty to turn the drivetrain. When put in gear with the truck running it sound as its just spinning againd=st the gears and wont move. toed it back to the house and put it in first gear to park but it seemed like it was in neutral as the truck just rolled back down the street. Had to set the parking brake to hold it in place. This is the first time i have done such a project and im not sure what to do next. Reading different post has me to think there may be air in the hydrolic line but there was good pressure at the peddle? I also seen it could be somehow the new pilot is not working? I really would appreciate any advice any of you could give as im totally lost on what to do next!!
I just did my Explorer clutch. I had similar issues.I finally sucked it up and pulled the entire hydraulic system and bench bled it. After reinstalling it everything worked great. If the tranny has an internal slave cylinder, you'll have to disconnect the line at the bell housing then remove everything up to and including the master clutch cylinder. If it's old replace it.
