It's a weight to dampen exhaust vibrations or resonances that would otherwise be annoying to the occupants or cause mechanical stresses to certain system joints.

Thanks. I thought it might be a heat sink but really had no idea. Mostly just want to make sure it's not something integral to the cats there and going to leak (I'm not a mechanic).
