Need help with brake warning light
I need some help with a brake warning light on the dashboard. Here’s some background information on the vehicle. I have a friend thathas a 2005 Ford F150. The passenger front caliper and rotors on the front werereplaced. New brake pads were also replaced. This was done in a lube shop; Iwon’t mention the name of the place but will say it was done in a “Jiffy”. Prior to having the work done the brake lightnever came on.
Once the vehicle was returned to the owner the vehiclerequired excessive pressure on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. I replacedthe power booster and it took care of the problem. I flushed the brake linesusing a pressure bleeding method and manual bleeding. The light still comes on.The light will come on and go off. Other than the light coming on the brakeswork really well.
I used my scan tooland ran a scan KOEO and came up with codes P1000 and P1464. Under scan KOER Ihave codes P1000, P1464, P1703 and P1780. Out of these codes P1703 deals withthe brake system. I took the vehicle toa brake shop and had them run a scan and they also came up with P1703. I wastold this is the code for the switch that plugs into the master cylinder. I replaced this switch and the switch on thebrake pedal and the switch by the brake pedal that disengages the cruisecontrol. The brake shop told me it was possible the ECU for the brakes may havegone bad. . I also unplugged the connection at the master cylinder and thelight stays on.
I will mention the cruise control does not work. Before I goreplacing the ECU for the brakes I want to be sure this is the problem

From that answer it goes into in depth diagnostics for testing the wiring harness, module(s) etc... not for a DYI fix, you're going to have to take it in to a pro that knows how and has the proper diagnostic equipment.
