I have a 97 f-150 4x4 with the 5.4 liter when I accelerate. there is a loud ticking sound coming from the driver side of the engine but its fine when its idling it idles real smooth no change in oil pressure and no loss in power. a leak around the exhaust manifold maybe?

 

Make sure you don't have a loose spark plug.
