Default Mileage drops after reprograming

The sensor on my 4.6 L V-8 showed that I needed to re-program factory settings when I had recent oil change. They could not do this as only Ford can reset the chip. I took it to Ford dealer where they downloaded the latest settings for my 2005 F-150. Now the gas mileage is terrible. Where I used to get overall average of 16 now I'm getting 12. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you gone to larger tires, reset the size with a tuner, and then Ford put everything back to factory?

The message light was on "check engine". I had changed spark plugs but no tire change etc. The shop where I change oil could reset the light but it wouldn't stay off. Their computer said I needed to have Ford reset the computer in my Truck. Hope this is clearer. After dealer reset my computer with his computer, my gas mileage stinks.

What was the code for the check engine light ? Did they fix anything or just reset the light ?
You still out in left field... the oil change place has a computer that told you to go to ford ?
