Default Major acceleration issues

I have an ''04 F-150 FX4 with approx 66k miles on it. Bought it used and have had it since December 07. I am experiencing major acceleration problems. Does ok at highway speeds, but from 0-60 it is extremely sluggish and feels like the engine is missing somewhat. Merging into traffic is scary. A Ford mechanic is telling me he thinks it is the cam phaser. Everything I have read about the cam phaser relates only to a knocking noise and nothing about acceleration or performance issues. I really don''t want to pay for the cam phaser issue if that is not what is causing the acceleration issues. Thoughts??

None. And I have changed the fuel filter, air filer, and had injectors cleaned as well.

Do a fuel pressure test just in case, but i think you should also do a compression test to make sure your valve timing is ok. Post results of both tests in here so we could have some additional input

mine is kinda the same way... 53000 miles on it. i'm thinking the plugs might need to be changed. I've added a CAI and Cat-back but she still seems lazy. she do have a slight ticking... i though it might be the lifters on the valves... and not any big deal... keep me posted!!
