Default loud noise at random/electronics issue

Hello, I am a new ford truck owner...just recently purchased a used 2002 f150.

Here is my concerns, that I cannot find any answers to using google:

I've had the truck maybe 3 months now, and it has been very reliable - however 3 times now I get a random noise from behind the steering wheel in the engine, usually when in idle. For example - I was just listening to the radio, and I heard the loud noise (almost sounded like a belt spinning way too fast or something) and it immediately shut the radio off, then had an almost vacuum type of sound from the engine.

The thing that is weird, is that all 3 times this happened, the wipers stopped working. They will work when in park but as soon as I shift into gear, I have no control over them (if I put them on in park, then shift into gear, they'll stay on but I cannot speed them up nor slow them down)

After sitting for a week, they will start working again.

I am very confused and would like to get the issue resolved...it seems like it might be something electrical, because the car still drives fine, but I'm worried that it may turn into a much larger issue.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
