Loud clunk & brief shutter when accelerating from stop
2005 F150 Lariat Super Crew 4x4 v8 automatic, 245,000 miles
Three times in the last week, my truck has made a loud clunk when accelerating from a stop. I believe it's happening when shifting from first to second, or from second to third. The best way to describe it is like running over a hammer... I can hear it make a quick noise like a clunking sound, and the steering wheel briefly vibrates. The whole thing lasts maybe half a second. Now, my commute is 60 miles round trip, with about half of that being constant stop and go traffic. So, the sound is very infrequent, but three times in a week is alarming. The shutter/clunk seems to happen around the 125 mile mark, if that's possible... That's right, the clunk seems to happen in the same vicinity of my commute, and no, it's not the same pot hole I'm hitting because it's happened in slightly different spots, but all on my return trip home, within about 5 miles of each other.
