Default Lost electrical power?

Good morning everyone, today my truck lost all electrical power (for lack of a better word). When I got in my truck and started it up the battery light was on and my rpms were sitting at 1000 instead of the usuall 5_600, but the light cut off after I put it in drive. About 30 min down the road my headlights cut off, all interior lights cut off, radio cut off, and my gauges, door lock, power windows, a.c., etc.. would not work. However the truck was still running it did make a weird noise until i came to a complete stop it sounded almost like a air hose blowing air.

I ended up driving it back home about 30min away drove fine, except when coming to a stop it would shake like it wanted to die but never did. Now it won't start, but it rolls over.

am I over thinking this or do I just need a new battery?
thanks.

The vehicles a 2005 F150 FX4 5.4L.

How old is the battery?

If the battery is fairly new, I'd look at the alternator and related parts.

Sounds like your battery may have an internal short.
