Location of eec IV on 1986 f150 5.0 4x4

Location of eec IV on 1986 f150 5.0 4x4
My son is a soldier in the Army it took us weeks to find transportation for truck to base . Once it finally got there ran Great for a day . Then started really rough then wouldnt turn over. It has had numerous new parts $ and has been to two mechanics ?? Nearby to his base . One put new plugs other put in erg valve . Neither solved the issue
after 900 in transport cost 300 to first mechanic then 200 to next then towed back to base. It ran great here it is his dads truck in great shape Dad was trying to get him the best transportation to him . Our sons trucks are more mudd and fun trucks. Well he has replaced alot . Now it will at least turnover. We are literally going thru hell . We were trying to save him the headache of buying a used vehicle there with someone elses problems . But then this... Poor kid cant catch a break . We are now trying to locate the eec IV on it 1986 ford f150 5.0 4x4 . Sorry for the long winded explanation . Just a proud army mom trying to help her 19 yr old pvt.

This will never be a reliable vehicle; it's a worn-out antique in need of serious maintenance & some repairs. If he can't maintain & repair it himself, then he doesn't need to own or depend on it - it'll drive him broke. Help him find something newer with fewer problems, even if they're someone else's fewer problems. It'll still be better than all the problems this thing has, for a young driver who just needs reliable & economical transportation.
Since you (and the mechanics you're using) haven't diagnosed the problem(s) yet, why are you trying to find the EEC? I hope you weren't planning on replacing it - replacing parts without diagnosis hasn't panned out for you so far. It's not a likely cause of the symptoms you've described. If you put the truck's location in your profile or post, you might get someone nearby who's familiar with these old trucks to help out with diagnosis.
I highly recommend you do NOT blindly replace or even disturb it until it fails some diagnostic test, but it's most-likely above the gas pedal. Since EFI wasn't standard on these trucks, Ford didn't have a standard location for the EEC in '86. But the most-common locations I've seen are above the gas pedal, and under the driver's seat.

No, you said the truck ran perfectly AFTER transport, so you can't blame the transport now.
