Default Intermittent grinding noise while in reverse

Hey guys,

Another quick question. I am getting a front end grinding noise while in reverse. Started to notice it as well while taking my foot off the gas and decelerating while driving forward. Anyone got any ideas of what to check? I just replaced the drivers side cv shaft and seal, brakes and calipers all around, upper control arm and ball joint. Cant afford to take it to the dealer. 2011 F-150 5.0L XLT with 2xx,xxxkm

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a 4wd. First try this. Put your truck in 4 wheel High and driving it like normal. If the sound stops then it’s you IWE actuator (look it up if you don’t know what is). If the sound continues then it’s the wheel hub assembly. You can’t really test to see if these are bad unless it’s like far gone and the wheel is actually wiggling freely. Remember if you Jack up the truck a try to move the wheel and it doesn’t wiggle, that is not an indication that the wheel hub is ok. Because you cannot manually apply the same amount of force the hub experiences when driving.
