Default Interior light

Hi all. 2007 F150 XLT. Interior lights do not turn on when I open a door. Should they? I have two "map lights" and they work fine with the switches. Thoughts?

I am having the opposite issue on an '03 F150. The interior lights do not turn off. On this truck I have here there is a fuse and relay panel under the steering wheel and to the left. Above the park brake pedal. In that panel are fuses and relays. There are two relays that control the interior lights and all cabin power. I suspect one of those, on my truck, is sticking intermittently. That or there is problem with one of the door ajar sensor switches.

I found this link very very useful. I hope it is accurate. It looks like any year truck can be entered to see:

Hope that helps.

Got this one fixed. I started out lazy. Liberal spray of silicone lube of door catches, with attention to direct the spray into where the door switch is. Problem solved. Lights turn on/off perfectly now.

diagnosis, sticky switch which is integral to the door latch.

Try checking the Dimmer Switch, if it is all the way in the down position, the interior light will not come on with the doors, but will come on with the switches.

I just bought a *new to me* 2012 f150 xlt 4x4. It came to me with no automatic interior lights but the bulbs were missing so I didn't think much of it. Bought new bulbs today and put them in. The map lights do not work at all even when each individual light cover is pressed. The back cabin lights will work when pressed directly but not when the doors open. Any thoughts on this rather odd problem? I live way out in the sticks and it's really dark getting in and out of the truck at night. The fuses are good.

Start at page 86 and see if any of this applies: https://cdn.dealereprocess.net/cdn/s.../2012-f150.pdf

Thank you! Got it solved! Learn something new every day! And I have downloaded that manual for reference.
