ignition secrurity sensor 1996
I took my steering column half apart to change out an actuator rod who's pin had fallen out. When I took out the lock cylinder the sensor on the side (which I assume is a security sensor?) broke apart some. It seemed like it was just the plastic clip that broke so I taped it in place. When I got everything back together and turned the ignition it started but then stalled out within a minute or so. Now the ignition works when I turn it, but the engine won't turn over. Engine worked fine before this problem. All I could think of was that the sensor wasn't working and maybe the anti-theft function is to stop the gas intake.
Questions: 1. is the sensor clipped on the inside of the ignition lock cylinder a security sensor? 2. if it is, would it let the ignition work, but not let the engine turn over somehow if it broke? 3. other ideas on what's wrong?
Thanks!
