Default hvac recirculating door

I was hoping someone can help me out. I had the fresh air blend door break where they all do. I've bought the new part and am just waiting for some nicer weather before I spend a weekend replacing it. The question I have is this...
when I finally get the dash out of the way, can I replace the blend door without removing the whole plenum? I really don't want to disconnect my heater core hoses and drain my ac lines. Has anyone gone through the headache of fixing this issue rather than simply zip tying the door

I have the same issue and question. Did you find out if you have to remove the plenum to replace the fresh air blend door.

no, I pulled the dash in toward the cab a bit, away from the firewall and was able to get it swapped. I did not have to remove the entire thing
