Default Heater Issue

2001 Ford F150 V6 4.2l

I am not getting any heat. When check I have no water in the heater core hoses. Engine does not ver heat and runs at temperature. Can a bad water pump be bad not allowing water to flow to the heater core but still be working so as engine does not over heat?
I am trying to figure out why no hot water flowing thru heater core.

any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

no heat since I have had it. Found that blend door actuator was not working got it changed found still no heat. That is when I found that borth hoses to heater core cold to touch. Took off hoses and both dry. ran water thru and it ran clear in both directions.

How long have you had it? A day, a year, a decade?

Did you start the engine with the hoses off?

How many miles on the engine? How many times did you drive it in the eight months? You're really not offering much info about the engine. 2001 4.2, unknown mileage, unknown history, etc. Could have sat in your driveway for eight months and you just found this problem. Can't tell how far you've driven it or how hot the engine got.

You asked if the water pump could be stopping flow to the heater core. If you crank the engine with the hoses off you'll find out. Or you could just leave a clamp loose. Just an idea. Seems more like you just need to get the system filled completely. Maybe do a burping. Are you using a Motorcraft thermostat?

What's happening in the degas bottle? Is it full? Does the level change? Does it hold pressure?
