Default Heater and AC problems

I have to set my temp level to cold to get the heater to blow warm air. Sometimes this works, but sometimes it doesn't.

If I want to get some AC going, I have to set the temp level to Hot to get cold air.

Does this sound like a thermostat issue? Heater Core?
Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks

Most later years 98 and newer use the similar controls. All of your AC /heater controls are vacuum controlled with the exception of the Blendoor motor for the heater core, I would look in the engine compartment, on the firewall, behind the battery and look for small red, blue and black plastic hoses that may be disconnected or broken creating a vacuum loss to the controller. If not there then behind the control panel.

Thanks Marc. I will give it a look when I get back home. I live in Canada and winter is a coming!
Appreciate the advice
