Getting discouraged
Background- 1989 F150-300 motor- 4wd- I am having fuel related problems- I hqd my truck sitting for about 3 months- was running great when parked- went and got in it to go take care of business, started up for a few seconds and died. Looked at gas gauge and thought it could have pretty close to being out of gas. Went and added gas, and again she started up, ran for a few seconds and died. I started troubleshooting- I have fire- checked fuel rail- had very little pressure, and minor amount of fuel coming from it. Did troubleshooting on relay and EEC and all checked out- I can turn on my ignition and hear my external pump kick on for the normal 3 seconds. I diconnected the line between external pump and filter to see if I would have any flow- nothing from the pump, did have what was in the line from the motor back. So I figured a new pump was to be needed. While messing around with this and that, noticed my pump had now quit working- again started troubleshooting, and came across that my ignition switch had started separating- I took it off and put it back together- reinstalled- pump comes on- still no start- I change out the external pump because I could still not get any pressure at the rail. I took all my lines loose prior to installing the pump and blew through them to insure of no blockages, from the tanks to through the filter in front of the external pump. One question I do have is if I disconnect the electical at my external pump, will my pumps still work from my tanks so I can hear for sure the are running- I think they are, but could just be the noise travel from external pump. Another question would be, could all this be related to the ignition switch?
