Default Fuel help

1990 f-150 xlt lariat

It starts, sputters then dies. It starts back up then does the same thing. Replaced the fuel filter, repay is fine and I can hear the fuel pump so I don't think it's the fuel pump. Suggestions?

sounds like a fuel pressure issue to me. if you don't have a fuel pressure guage get one and test the fuel pressure at the rails

Hearing the pump is not a recognized test of anything. My suggeestion is: get a gauge, and diagnose the fault:

If you don't have a Haynes, get one:

When you have one, read it cover-to-cover at least once so you know what's in it & where to find things.

I assume "repay" means "relay". How exactly did you test it? In any case: it's garbage, and should be replaced as this & the NEXT few captions describe:

You didn't mention which engine but here are the fuel pressure specs. for your 1990.
I6= 45-60 PSI
V8= 30-45 PSI
