Flexplate Troubles
Hey everyone! I have a 2007 F-150 FX2 5.4 with 195k miles on it. I’m the original owner of it and have always had issues with flexplates breaking. Last weekend I put the fourth one in it. The first one was put in by Ford at 30k, second one by Ford at 60k, third one by me at 100k and now the latest one by me at 195k. This time I also replaced the torque converter because the button/hub that goes into the end of the crankshaft had some pretty substantial scarring on it from the flexplate breaking the last time. I’m fairly knowledgeable, but this has been an on-going battle with this thing and it always seems to stump me. I’ve checked bushings each time I did the work and I see nothing wrong. Also, since before the first break, the truck has had a vibration between 75 and 85 mph, going away after 85. Doubtful that this has anything to do with it, but shortly after buying it, I lowered the rear end to level it out, but promptly had Ford adjust the pinion angle to accommodate this. Anyone have any idea about what could be going on?
