F150 Diesel: Oil Life drops 4% each day with short commute
I drive maybe 6 miles each weekday with my new F150 PowerStroke that has less than 1,000 miles. The oil life is already at 75%, with a drop of about 4% each day lately. Maybe it's because of my short commute? At this rate I'll be doing an oil change every three or four thousand miles! My 2011 Eco would go 7500 miles between oil changes in the same circumstances.

Agreed. Short hopping isn't exactly the forte of a diesel.

This might be a circumstance where an oil analysis would tell you otherwise. I would run a couple oil changes and send an oil analysis in when dropping the oil for the 3rd time. you may be able to safely run longer than what the IOLM says. With the increased oil capacity of diesel engines, an oil analysis may save you money by extending the oil life!
