I have a 93 f150 and i just bought the equalizer to connect my e brake chord that comes from the cab to the 2 chords from each tire, its about not even half an inch off and ive pulled all that i can from the back 2 tires with out actually dis-assembling the whole drum, does anyone know any easy tips for install cuz I don't really have the money to consult a professional, or does anyone know if its easy to get to the e brake chords on each drum to loosen them? Any help I can get is appreciated, Thanks

 

Sure you don't have a frozen cable not allowing you to pull all the slack out of the lines?

With the equalizer attached to the rear cables, you ought to be able to manually pull the cables back and forth, effectively actuating the e-brake assembly. It's a two-handed tugging challenge, but not superhuman.

If the cables aren't frozen in place, there are still the springs at the end of the cables in the drum that you have to overcome to get the equalizer assembly together. Don't know of any way other than the tried-and-true grunt-groan-and-cuss method.

Once you get the nut started at the equalizer, the process gets easier. Be sure not to overtighten so as to end up with the e-brake dragging.

 

oh ok, so if i pull them really hard i should get them up enough?..ok my equalizer doesnt have any bolts..this is what it looks like

 

The cable from the parking brake pedal should have a cinch strap assembly at the end of it that has about a 3" threaded rod with a fitting on its tip that you can put a wrench to so as to keep the cable from twisting while you're tightening the nut.

 

When I look under my cab, I have the 2 cables coming from the back that meet at the same spot, then I have one that is connected to another that go to the cab, maybe where they meet, or i can get slack from the cab, ill give it a look, Thanks
