Default Engine Tick (need help!!!!)

I'm sure you all have heard this issue on here a million times, but I need some help. 2007 F-150 FX4 5.4 3 V with a nice tick going on cold and warm. Thought it was exhaust manifold leak no luck. Mechanic said it's ticking lifter. I'm too tight for valve work need some suggestions. I've heard of running a thicker oil will make it stop any one try this and have any good luck? I run 6 quarts 5w20 and 1 quart Lucas Oil now and still ticking like hell....

Try running a can of SeaFoam in the oil ($10). If you have a lifter that's gummed up this will fix it. Might take a 100 miles for it to work. If it doesn't work, you have collapsed lifter and the only fix is major engine work or at least pulling a valve cover to see if a tappet is broken. Good luck

I'm dealing with the same thing. Had a crazy loud tick show up last week on a road trip. Been searching the forums and getting ideas for a few days now. I am thinking mine is an exhaust manifold leak but if not I received some suggestions about the VCT solenoids or possibly lifters as well. Not really stoked for any of these options. Good luck!

May want to try the plugs before tearing into the engine. Be prepared for the broken plug issue/tsb if you try it yourself.

Default Thanks guys

I had the plugs replaced recently and had to spark plug boots and wires renewed as well and still a tick. I am going to the try the sea foam idea. Ive been told to try Rislone or Marvels Mystery oil. Is Sea Foam a better option??

How did that seafoam idea work for you? I have an 06 KR f150 with 171 k and I want to keep it running strong. No issues yet.

I'm scared to change mine but I'm not sure my truck is in the category of plug problems. Anyone know for sure? 2002 4.6. I FOUND THE ANSWER!!!My engine is a 2v.
