Default Engine seized after trans removal

I got a 96 f150 5.0 automatic it only has 107xxx miles on it. it was my grandpa's truck so really want to fix it. It ran great and shifted good but had awful oil leak witch I thought was coming from rear main seal. So i pulled transmition and flywheel to see it was good. But pan gasket was blew out in the back, i changed gasket and put flywheel back on now engine will not turn so i can get converter bolted up. It spun easy by hand coming off any ideas what's up.

Take the fly wheel off and see what you did wrong.

Check your torque converter see if it’s all the way seated in the trans.

Well if it didn't do it before the work it has to be something you did wrong. You know the old saying, "**** happens"

While you are in there i would recommend doing the rear main seal. No sense in doing just the oil pan gasket. Sounds like you have something binding check everything again.

That's not much information. The more we know about the truck, the more likely we can help you. Read this page and put ALL the details into your signature:

All leaks run down & back to that area because of gravity, wind, and the engine's tilt. Always follow a leak trail forward & up to its source.

It would have been better to pull the engine - that would have give you access to everything, and you'd probably have found the actual leak point.

When you had the transmission out, did you let the torque converter come forward at all?
