I have a 2000 f150 4x4 5.4 automatic trans while driving on the highway or in town my engine will quit for no reason when it does all I have to do is put it in nutural turn the key off then it starts right up and keeps on going now it is starting to die when I stop at lights now it has happened twice when the truck quits the thief light starts flashing fast and the truck will not start after it sets for about 5 to 10 minutes the light quits flashing and the truck starts right up

 

Got to start with the basics. Does the battery check out ok?

 

actually sounds like a cam sensor mabye?
or could most likely be an ecu problem....



does it make a knocking noise?

 

no it does not knock

 

check engine light?

 

yes the battery and alter checks good battery 12 volts alter 14.5

 

check engine comes on then it goes out
