Default Engine Overtemp Warning

Has anyone had this issue?
2014 F-150 5.0
My coolant temp gauge intermittently stops reading and causes an engine overtemp code to come up. When cycling the key off and back on the gauge will start reading again and everything is normal. I supercharged the truck about 2 months ago but this issue just started happening, twice this week to be exact. Obviously it is possible I have a coolant temp sensor that may be bad that just may need to be replaced. What do y’all think?

The gauge doesn't cause the warning - the PCM does, based on the CHT readings. Click this & read the caption:

As with any fault indicator, the first step in diagnosis is to confirm that the indicated condition actually exists. Next time it happens, be ready to pull over immediately and check block temperature with a non-contact thermometer. Practice using it beforehand so you can get a reading quickly when necessary.

Yes sir, it was an intermittent failing cylinder head temp sensor. I had to remove the blower and intercooler brick to get access to the back of one of the cylinder heads. This was a few years back and I don’t remember if it was the driver or passenger side head but the sensor is located there. I believe it was on the passenger side cylinder head.
