Unhappy Electric Failure?

My truck has been behaving very strange lately. I've got a 1995 F150 with a 302. It started out where when i would crank it, the engine would act like it would want to start up and turn over, then die, then i'd crank it again and it would run just fine. Other times it would crank and drop to about 300 rpm and would go back to normal idle shortly afterwards. Then the past few days it got to where when i would crank it, the solenoid would click and nothing, and i would try to crank it a few more times which was met with the same clicks and after three or four tries, it would start and run flawlessly. I thought the starter or solenoid was going bad and it was all under lifetime warranty so I changed it out thinking i was doing right, but the symptoms have persisted. So now i'm thinking could it be the battery cables? I'm new to this all so if there's any more information i can give to help diagnose this issue, I'll be happy to comply. Its not a fatal flaw in it because it just takes a moment longer to get it started, but its still an annoyance and i'd rather have my truck running smoothly. Thanks to all in advance.

Default electrical failures

Just a suggestion but you might consider going over the truck and reground every one you can find and that includes body to frame straps...everything.
For me it solved many issues and I admit not all but it sure helped.
Anyway it'll make you feel good.
Remember, ground, ground and reground.

Yep...like J said...check all connections...don't forget the starter...got a volt meter ?? read VDC at the Batt engine off...should be above 12VDC...read the Batt with engine running...should be 13-14VDC if the Alt is working right...if your Batt is 3-4 years old ...replace it...it will be time soon anyways...look at your cables real good...they can corrode from the inside-out...under the rubber coating at the ends. Good luck and let us know what you find.

It actually turned out to be the starter relay on the fender :P Thanks for all the help though, I appreciate it!
