Door lock electrical issue
I have a 2016 f150 eco boost. It just got cold out here in Canada and started having issues with my doors latching open after first use of the day. I can start it run it and when I get to a destination and go to close the doors the latches have closed. Door switch and fob do nothing. It does blink some lighting in the truck like a short when trying to release. Lock switch is in open position amd will not go down. If I park inside and let the truck warm up it goes away and acts normal. Is there a safety so you don’t lock yourself out of the vehicle? Fuses are good, changed out battery as it was a little low and was due to replace. Oh it was also affecting my windows from operating which don’t seem to be on any joined circuits. Very confused and can’t drive anywhere when my doors won’t close
One possibility is broken wiring in the door jam area. I am not familiar with details of a 2016 but generically speaking the wiring in the door jam is responsible for powering everything in the doors. Often times one or more of the conductors in the door jam wiring will break and cause windows and door locks to act intermittently. The conductor breaks but in general the outer jacket does not. Often the outer jacket will have a bulge at the break location.
So, take a look at the wiring in the door jam area, you may have to pull back any accordian style rubber sleeve to gain access.
Temperature may be playing a part due to thermal contraction of the wire and the plastic jacket.
If you put a volt meter on the conductors in the switch area you should be able to determine whether or not you are lossing power by wiggling the wiring in the door jam. The switches themselves can be the issue especially if they have been wetted by rain water or spilled drinks.

Thanks, its at the shop. They said there was a recall on the door actuator. IDont think this resolves my issue unless the passenger door and all four window are tied into this somehow.
I'll check this when I get it back and its not resolved. Its a company truck so I don't get to indepth some times but I hate wating on shops that don't know what they are doing either. I'm a refrigeration mechanic by trade and used to troubleshooting electrical issues. A wiring diagram woudl help. I need to get better at using a computer to look things up first. Ha.
I'll post a reply when its figured out so people have the background. I have had a few wierd gremlins like this with this truck and it sure is nice wehen you can find others with the same issues.

The shop called yesterday to say they are finished and it’s working. They said they changed out the door actuators because of a recall. I don’t think they even looked into anything else just went after the recalll hoping this is the issue. I’m out of town with a rental truck and will know better next week. Asked them to try it out a few times since it is being left out side in the cold and this is when the issue happens.
more to come next week.

CMHford,It’s been a week since you last posted. Have you resolved this issue and if so, please post the solution? Feedback is important so that we all learn solution paths to these issues.
Thanks in advance
