Diagnosing "sputtering" noise
Truck is a 95' F-150 5.0L V8 with around 230k miles on it.
So this sound is pretty sudden. I've been driving it weekly for years and have never experienced this particular sound, or anything that sounded abnormal, really, until I cranked her up this morning. Immediately after the engine starts up, there is a fluttering noise coming from what sounds like the front of the engine. You can hear my serpentine squeaking in this video, so I assumed that the "fluttering" noise was coming from a loose pulley or something. So I take off the serpentine and turn my truck on for a few seconds and notice that the sound is still there, minus the squeaking obviously. So I did some research, and the closest thing I managed to find online pointed to a loose timing chain slapping against the cover, but I honestly have no idea and havent really found anything else that could be causing this noise. So wanted to ask yall guys opinion before diving in head first, as I need my truck and want to narrow down the issue and get it fixed immediately instead of ripping old girl apart lookin for nothing while the real problem is right in front of me. Any help and advice is much appreciated.
Thanks yall
