Default Compression low looking for alternative solutions

Hello, i recently took my truck to a garage and i was told that because of a compression test that they did, they found that on cylinder #3 was only 22lbs and they said i required a new engine. What i need to know is if theres other solutions to this problem since i cant afford to buy another motor right now. It's a F150 4x4 4.6l v 8 Any suggestions?

Cylinder leak down test would be my first test. Or do a wet compression test to find out if its a valve problem or piston problem. Also what year truck is it?

Remove the spark plug and poor about a capfull of trans fluid in it the do a compression test. If the compression comes up you have a piston or ring problem. If it doesn't you have a valve problem. Is it a 3valve or a 2valve engine. 3v engines are bad to break valve springs and 2v engines are bad to have a rocker arm come off.
