Compass/Temp unit not working

have a 2001 F150 XLT with the overhead console with eyeglasses holder ant the readout for compass & outside temperature. The readout has gone blank; if I hit it with my palm it comes on briefly then goes back off. Any ideas?

Sure. Post in the 97-03 forum and your question would have been responded to much sooner.
