It's not necessarily the sensor itself. Could be connectors or wiring or some other signal problem. Who knows, the sensor signal might even be run through the lead frame. Bad lead frames is a fairly common issue with 2016's.

Lead frame is the plastic framework that houses the electrical leads inside your transmission housing.
Turbine Speed Sensor (TSS) is the sensor located on the outside of the transmission housing that counts the internal transmission speed and compares that to the Output Speed Shaft (OSS) sensor to control shift points.
