Cigarette smell

Cigarette smell
Hoping someone can point me to what might be wrong here or what to at least check out. My 2007 F-150 started to randomly smell like a burning cigarette smell a few days ago. I think it's coming from the vents and it only happens sporadically (but several times a day). Nobody has ever smoked in the car so I'm at a loss as to what to look for. It's not a sweet coolant smell, or burning oil or rubber but sort of a cigarette type smell. Other than that the car runs and sounds good. Any help would be much appreciated.

I had a chevy truck one time, and it smoked.

My wild guess would be the fan speed resistor. Its a common failure in older vehicles.

Or look under your truck, you might have ran over something and it is now burning on your exhaust pipe and or catalytic. Plastic bags are known to jump under your vehicle while you're driving then melt onto the exhaust.

I used to use a local father and son garage. But the father smoked like a chimmy. My truck of girlfriends car would stink for days after being serviced there. So I stopped going.
