1. What kind of gasket?
2. What kind of fluid?
3. Do I need differential modifier? If so, how much?
4. That after market cover...what kind and where to buy? Amazon?

Thanks for all your help. I watched many videos on youtube. Now I just need to get it done.

if you check on your driver door and find your axle code we can help you better.

It appears I have an L9 axle. Is that the information that is needed?

Thanks,

Phil

An L9 axle code I believe is the 3.55 E Locker, but you're manual or purchase documentation should tell you for sure.

1. If there were a gasket available it would be here:
http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Ca...FW1ET5CFA86067

I used RTV Silicone Gasket Maker. Bought at NAPA for like $7 or something. Easy to use, just takes a little time to set.

2. My owner's manual says Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 Rear SyntheticAxle Lubricant. I imagine it is the same but I don't know for sure. Your manual should say for sure. that's only for the rear diff though.

3. Limited Slip Differentials need friction modifier and open diffs do not. E Locking diffs are mechanically open diffs, but may have specific needs. You could call you're dealer or wait for someone with more experience to respond.

4. Here are some listings for diff covers I found:

Boa_Man5...you are the man. I really appreciate it.

Look what I have learned though. It appears I never have to change the differential fluid.
