You'll lose power and the cats will get really hot

My 04 5.4 won't break traction on dry or wet pavement is that normal or is that short on power?

WAY SHORT on information to make that call. what year truck????Big tires??? Lifted??? Rear end gear ratios??? miles on the truck???? auto or stick??? all stock motor or mods????
I can get anything to smoke and pop a tire no matter how old. This shouldn't be a factor for judging power. Have a shop put it on a dyno or at least go to a muffler shop and have them cut the cats and drive it. Good luck

An indication of a plugged cat will often show a check engine light indicating an issue with the O2 sensors. Most muffler shops can put a small hole ahead of the cat, check the pressure and compare it to the after cat pressure to confirm clogging. If you are in a state that doesn't require smog equipment you can remove the cat completely as long as the first O2 sensor remains in place. Look on U-Tube for a video on this test method
