Broken Screw
I have a 5.4L V8 Triton, I was removing the coil off of cylinder 6 to replace it with a good one, I had the good one on and was tightening it down, just as I was tightening it, the head of the screw broke off and now I have a stub where the screw is suppose to screw into and I cant get it out, I've tried using vice grips, pliers, and everything just slips off of the nub, anyone have any suggestions? Or maybe know a tool that can help me out? I'll post some photos tomorrow if someone doesnt understand what I'm talking about.
Get a pair of vise grips that have teeth on the tip end so that it don't slip, if there is not enough to grab onto then you will need to grind flat what ever of the bolt that's sticking out and center punch it so you can drill and use an easy out tool, other than that you will have to drill it out completely and re tap the hole with new threads for a slightly larger bolt or helicoil it back to factory spec.

Are you a welder or do you know anyone that is? You can remove the bolt real easy with a flat washer and nut. Remove the coil and place a fire blanket or wet rags around the entire area except the broken bolt. Lay the flat washer (same diameter as the broken bolt) over the broken bolt. Tack the washer to the bolt. Lay the nut on the washer - at center - and make a small weld inside the nut. let it cool for a minute or so. Spray the area around the bottom of the washer with WD or liquid wrench and then use an end wrench and back the broken bolt out of the valve cover.
