Sorry for your troubles but we need more info,,,,what engine, how many miles, have you done anything to it lately? Is it stalling when you put it gear ? Like lack of fuel? Like shutting the key off? Does it stumble then die? Check engine light on when running while in park? Could be several things but we need more info to diagnose .

right. maybe a fuel delivery problem.. take the air intake tube off and have someone spray carb cleaner into the throttle body while its running and try shifting into reverse or park and see if that helps..fuel pump may not have enough power to keep the motor running with the additional load of the transmission..

Ive seen a torque conver fail and cause that same kind of problem, but I have not seen a tranny cause that. What condition is the fluid in, does it smell burnt?

It sounds like the torque converter clutch is staying locked up. The torque converter allows the engine to keep turning when the vehicle is stopped with the transmission in gear and will slip to allow more power to the wheels while accelerating. It will lock up mechanically with an electrical solenoid at cruising speeds in the higher gears. If the Torgue Converter Clutch fails on its like a stick shift with the clutch engaged and the engine will stall.
