Break in period
So we just upgraded from a 2017 xtr to a 2020 sport 4x4 301a with the FX4 off road package.. I'm told an read not to tow or be to aggressive with the gas peddle.. We own a 17 ft boat.. Boat/motor /trailer weigh about 3000lbs..sales guy said engine is broken in at factory.. But it's the computer that reads your driving style first 1600kms..soubd right?
I'd wait if possible. At least a little bit.
Dot the normal stuff, vary speed, get on the pedal from time to time, be gentle. Keep the cruise control off.
All those things help seat the rings.
On the flip side, a friend had a new Super Duty for a few weeks before we went camping with his large RV trailer.
I was surprised he towed that heavy through through the mountains on a brand new vehicle. He makes his living as a contractor always towing equipment plus a boat a few days a week, and of course the RV. He's not a towing or vehicle novice.
It didn't blow up though.
Broke in from the factory? I wouldn't consider it broke in per say, but yes it's been run.
Rembmer that the better taken care of it is now, the better it will treat you later.
And lastly, think about a used vehicle with only a few hundred when you buy it -how did the test drivers treat it? Chances are they floored it on a test drive.
Maybe there isn't one 'right' answer. But you should do what makes YOU feel happy.
