Brake Issue or Electrical Issue
Hello. I purchased a 2014 F-150 FX4 with the 3.5 L Ecoboost engine. I bought it with 107,000 miles on it. The dealer I purchased it from did a complete brake job on it before they sold it to me. I know the owner of the dealer took the truck and towed a boat with it numerous times. Since I purchased it, I have taken it back to the dealer twice because of brake issues. It was making a high-pitched sound like the pad was wearing. They simply sprayed some kind of crap on it to get it to stop making noise. Well, the sound stopped and two months later, now I am driving along on the highway doing about 55-60 mph and all of the sudden all the lights go out, my computer screens are blank and there is this red light beeping and it saying "Check Braking System" and then the brakes engage for a split second - then the lights all come on and the truck acts as if nothing happened. There is no check engine light, no nothing. This happens now twice a day. Any thoughts so that I can be armed before I go into the dealer and they look at me like I'm another woman that can be brushed off. I really appreciate your help here.
It sounds like you have a momentary loss of power that is causing the current issues. The brake error message sounds like a "secondary" effect from the power (or other) glitch, likely due to the vacuum pump dropping offline during that interval.
The prior brake work, as well as how the truck was used, is unlikely to be related but, without specific details about what recent work was done, it's hard to say.

Do you think unhooking the battery and resetting the computer might resolve this issue?

Intermittent issues like this can be particularly vexing for both the owner and the tech(s) trying to diagnosing it. If the tech cannot induce the failure, then the only thing possible is to either try some things that *might* address it or else wait until it fails all of the way.
Good luck with it. It will likely sorely test your patience.
