Battery Protection Mode ?
2010 SCREW w/ Sony radio/Navigation 5.4l engine OEM battery
Ran the radio for an hour + this afternoon. Went to start and --click
I thought these had a protection mode, that would disable various loads when it sensed the battery getting low. Have I misunderstood the protection mode ? Is that only when its being driven that it begins to shed various loads ?
Its probably time for a new battery anyway-- 3+ yrs.

shoot, I WISH I could leave mine on. I can turn the key on and it will still go into batt protection mode after approx 20-30 min.
however on the OP's problem, I think you have a low battery to begin with. unless you have some big system with amps and subs, etc. leaving the radio on for an hour should not drain it beyond crank ability.
time to buy a battery
