Default Assumed Fuel pump problems? Please help

I have a 2005 F150 Crew Cab 4wd Lariat. Has been working fine. Got the oil changed yesterday , drove it for 10-15 minutes, no issues. Ran a short errand today and 2-3 minutes in I thought it felt a little sluggish at an intersection. About 2 minutes later it felt sluggish again and then felt like it died. I coasted into a parking lot, and then it continued to run. I guess th eengine never completely died because I never restarted it.

I turned it off. It restarts, but the engine feels sluggish and sputtering. If I rev it up , its seems okay , but then returns to the sputtering. I turned off and re-started it about 5 times. No issues.

I bought this used at 60k miles. Currently has 79k. Truck loooked immaculate and well maintained, but I'm not positive when the previou s owner replaced the fuel filter prior to purchase.

Does this sound like a fuel pump issue? Any way to test for sure short of the local mechanic shop? Thoughts ...suggestions...sound like something else?

Thanks

Default Too Many Possibilities:

Too many variables exist that could cause the troubles you describe. I'm surprised a CEL hasn't popped up. Run a scan of the system and see what, if any, error codes are pending.

i had the same problem and it turned out the fuel pump was going out. left me stranded twice before i decided to spend the money on a new pump. i replaced the pump and filter adn that took care of it. aslo ran fuel system cleaner in after. it also never gave me a code. if you talk to many ppl they will tell u get a motorcraft pump they last longer.
