Default Alternator Pig Tail Replacement

2014 F150 5.0- I'm still trying to find why my battery light stays on despite the alternator and battery being new and both working perfectly so I'm going to replace the pig tail 3 prong that plugs into the alternator. Anyone that has done this could you explain the easiest way to do it. When I reach in and unplug it I only have about 2" of wire so that is not enough to cut and splice a new one. I'm really hoping I don't have to remove part of the harness.

The repair pigtail is $43.87 and we have it in stock. It has about 6-8 inches of wire on it so you'll be able to extend the wiring a bit from what you have but you'll still need to be able to access the old wiring in order to splice in the new pigtail. Shoot me a PM if you need a link to it.

Only tip I have there is to use the heat shrink that came with the pigtail, it's good stuff. Has sealant inside that creates a weatherproof seal to protect the splice.

I answered this above already, motorcraft. But I'm asking about the pigtail replacement not alternator questions.

Rock auto has 3-4 choices of replacement pigtails !! I bought the $8.00 one (But didn't install when I replaced the alternator. On my 2013 5.0..
Autozone ,O'rielly's & Advance probably have them as well ??
I think to gain enough access you will be removing the alternator first as it is very limited access & as you state very short wiring)....(3-4 inches slack)
When reinstalling Alt. hammer back the pivot slide bushing about 1\8''in the rear pivot bracket ....It makes it so much easier to put alt back in where it needs to go !!
Probably a good idea to solder the joints as well !! Good Luck !!
