alignment question
Took truck in for a alignment. Was told $69.99. two hours later I get a call from him saying something about caster or camber mentioning additional costs of $89.99. He was going on about having to mess with the upper control arm and remove something because it is not adjustable, factory. Months back I read into alignment back when I changed out the control arms and knew about what he was saying. Back then reading forums most shops say can't do it need to buy one that adjusts, what ever that part is called. Anyway I figured he replaced factory with one that can adjust. Find out later after I picked it up that the truck pulls to right and increase the intisty when at higher speeds. I get up user to take a look see. That part that locks in when tightening the camber bolts or adjusts were not there. I am no mechanic but I feel like that part needs to be there. Does anyone know about to what I'm referring to and could tell me if I need to get this part that adjusts or what? Calling tomorrow about the truck pulling to right. I'm pissed that I paid $89.99+tax to remove four bolts. I could use some insight so that when talk with him again I can atleast sound like I know what I'm talking about.
I have a 2003 F150 XLT 4.6l V8 Triton 2wd single cab. Was stock suspension I replaced the upper control arms with Mivotech and tie rods with Moog problem solvers. Assuming that is what your referring to stock suspension

That post was really hard to follow.
Yes you need a camber/caster kit like the one in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLUVA33bqjk
If the alignment was ok when you had the arms and tie rods installed most shops will just reset the toe. This is because if the new control arms are exactly the same then the caster and camber SHOULD be the same with the new arms. In your case it seems that that isn't the case. Should the shop have originally put the kit in, well that's open for debate, but it does apparently need it.
If they did do an alignment when you had the arms and rods replaced then the tech should have seen that the caster and/or caster were out and said something at that point. If you're taking the truck back to the same shop I would bring this point up. Tell him his tech should have seen this originally and suggested the kit. Try to work a deal with the guy. You pay for a kit, he installs and does the alignment and covers that cost because his tech didn't properly adjust originally.
